Did you know that the Bible is about 611,000 words long? It took over 1,000 years to complete the Old Testament and 50-75 years to complete the Word of God in the New Testament! The first translation from Latin Vulgate into English was done by John Wycliffe, an English philosopher. The most interesting fact I found was this: the last word in the Bible is “Amen”. Revelation is the last book, and the last chapter, 22, ends with verse 21, “the grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.” Earlier in verse 18, we are warned that no one is to add to this scroll. We end every prayer with “Amen” and that’s how the Bible ends. The word “Amen” means, “so be it.” It’s fitting and maybe I’m the only who didn’t realize this, but I feel such power in these last few verses. Nothing can be added or changed. Translations are words to words. It’s complete. It’s perfect. It’s God’s Word.
Revelation 22:18-21 NIV
I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this scroll. And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll. He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.
