When my kids were growing up, we often listened to a children’s album called Ants’hillvania, the parable of the prodigal son told as a story with talking ants. Singer/actor Pat Boone narrates the story as the Commandant of the ant colony. His son Antony decides to take off on his own because he’s fed up with the old-fashioned rules of his parents. His dad gives him his inheritance but warns him that “You win or lose by the way you choose. It’s the law of the ants.” Antony learns this lesson the hard way when he runs into trouble in a spider’s cave and almost becomes dinner. He narrowly escapes and becomes humble and wiser. We often hear that biblical morals are antiquated. The truth is when we choose our own way instead of the biblical path, we may wind up as someone else’s dinner.
Proverbs 4:26-27 NIV
Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil.
