As we sit here today with Christmas upon us, I remember the classic story, “A Christmas Carol”, by Charles Dickens. A grumpy old man, Ebenezer Scrooge, is visited by the ghost of his former co-worker, and spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come. At the end of this journey, Scrooge’s heart is changed; he becomes a kinder, gentler man. As sinners, we often, like Scrooge, need to see the wrongs of our past before we can move into our present and see Heaven in our future. Jesus is like the Spirits of Christmas: we look to Him for forgiveness of our past sins, we seek His guidance in our present and have faith in His promises for our future. Once we begin the transition from our old ways to followers of Christ, our journey doesn’t end, rather, it is only just beginning. This Christmas, ask for forgiveness, get to know Jesus, and see how your spirit will be transformed.
