“Long lay the world in sin and error pining till He appeared and the soul felt its worth. A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices, for yonder breaks a new glorious morn. Fall on your knees!” We live in a society that encourages us to rely on our own intellect and abilities. We are told to be in control of our own lives and to put ourselves first. The harder we work for our own gain, the more successful we will become. Self-satisfaction is the key to happiness. God has a much different idea for our lives. In this proverb, we are encouraged to trust God’s wisdom and to invite Him into every detail of our lives. As we head into the holiday season, let us worship in ultimate submission. Make time to seek truth, take next steps, and find the joy that only comes from full surrender. When we give all we have to God, we are promised a straight path – the path to eternal life, our ultimate “new, glorious morn”!
Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
