In 2018, our family went through financial, familial, and health crises. We weren’t waiting for the other shoe to drop, because the entire shoe store fell on us. It started with a critical hospitalization, then a son in prison, and ended with threats of losing our home. The hits kept coming. We wanted out of this, and we wanted it now. Waiting on God was difficult and painful. This verse was instrumental in my journey. The disaster I felt we were in wasn’t God’s end game. His plan includes hope and a future. There was more, better in store. I’m not going to tell you that everything has turned around with a neat and tidy ending. In fact, we’re still recovering. We may not understand God’s timing in the now, but we can grasp onto His assurances while we wait. He promised to hear us, and God is always faithful.
Jeremiah 29:11-12 NIV
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
