Read Luke 12:35-40 and Revelation 3:10
Is the upheaval in today’s world a sign of Christ’s Second Coming? Are these the “End Times”? God assures us in Scripture that Christ will return like a thief in the night. We will have no idea when it might be. Through the centuries, believers proclaimed their time in history as the End Times – the Black Death, the Civil War, the Holocaust. Trials, like these, serve several purposes: they keep us depending on God, and they keep our eyes open for the return of Christ. We don’t know when that will be, but we should be living like it might be today. Immersed in relationship time with God, holy living, and service to others, we should conduct ourselves in such a way that we would change nothing about our lives if Jesus returned this afternoon. Don’t let these tumultuous times drive you to fear and anxiety. Live your best life here and now for Jesus.
Luke 12:35-40 NIV
“Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him. It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes. Truly I tell you, he will dress himself to serve, will have them recline at the table and will come and wait on them. It will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready, even if he comes in the middle of the night or toward daybreak. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”
Revelation 3:10 NIV
Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth.
