What can we help you find?

January 25, 2021

The foundational proof that God’s Spirit lives in us is in our answers to these questions: Have I recognized and confessed that I am a sinner? Have I accepted Christ’s sacrifice as forgiveness for my sin? If you have, then it was the miracle of God’s Spirit who opened your eyes and took up residence in you. When we lived in sin, we were bent away from God, powerless to change our hearts and minds, but when God’s Spirit moved in us, we were able to see ourselves and God differently. We no longer saw Christ and the cross as foolishness. The Gospel became more desirable than all the things the world offered. God became real. We found ourselves wanting to do things that please God. Believing and trusting God’s promises replaced doubt and hardness. Conviction of sin, confession, and acceptance of God’s grace through Christ—these are proofs that God’s Spirit lives in you.

Bible Reading

1 Corinthians 2:14 NIV
The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.

1 John 4:2-3 NIV
This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.
