What can we help you find?

How Not To Be Your Own Worst Enemy

Have you ever been your own worst enemy? We all have. We run from what’s good for us and pursue things that aren’t. It never ends well. So, let’s end it! In this series, we will explore four of the worst decisions ever made in the Bible. If we can learn to spot a bad decision, we can start making many more good ones.

Think Long-Term

One of the best ways to make a bad decision is to focus only on the moment. We don’t think about what this is going to mean down the road. The world tells us to do what makes us happy or you only live once. As a result, we end up marrying the wrong person, having financial crisis, or living with emotional scars. God wants us to think long-term so we can have a great God-honoring future.

Seek Wise Counsel

The way we are our own worst enemy is surrounding ourselves with people who say what we want to hear. Don't want to be your own worst enemy? The best way we can beat it is by desiring, pursuing, and receiving wise counsel.

Don't Look For Loopholes

January 19, 2020 by Mark Stuenzi Message 3 of 4

All of us had times in our lives when we have listened to the wrong voices and tuned out the voice of God. Maybe you've made some decisions that you wish you can unmake. We tend to look for loopholes that speak for our actions. Don't talk yourself out of what God has called you into.

Stay Humble

January 26, 2020 by Mark Stuenzi Message 4 of 4

When pride starts to take control, it can ruin our judgment, our relationships, and our faith. When our hearts become filled with pride, we begin to think we're invincible, above the rules, and have it all figured out. Learning how to stay humble and giving praise to God is the best way to overcome pride within ourselves.
