What can we help you find?

This I Believe

Knowing what you believe and why you believe it is foundational for every Christian. But it’s easy to get overwhelmed in a book as vast as the Bible—especially if you don’t know where to begin. In this series, we’ll look at the core beliefs of Christianity through the lens of the Apostles’ Creed—one of the earliest and most concise summaries of Christian doctrine. We’ll break down the twelve statements of the Apostles Creed to examine what they mean, why we can believe them, and how they are more than mere words.

I Believe ...

June 17, 2018 by Dan White Message 1 of 9

Why is it so important to know what we believe and why we believe it? What is doctrine? And what is the Apostles' Creed? These are the questions we'll answer in the first part of our series This I Believe.

I Believe in God

June 24, 2018 by Mark Stuenzi Message 2 of 9

The opening statement of the Apostles' Creed begins with the essential truth that there is a Creator and it highlights the power and majesty of God the Father. Until we understand His power and majesty, His condescension as God the Son doesn’t grip our hearts like it should. The grandeur of the created world is the most powerful testimony to the greatness of God. Once we understand God as the powerful Creator, we will marvel at the fact that He would pursue us, die for us and indwell us.

I Believe in Jesus

July 1, 2018 by Mark Stuenzi Message 3 of 9

One of the unique aspects of Christianity is that God descended into human history to rescue us. Salvation is not the result of us making our way “up to” God, but God making his way “down to” us. In becoming our Savior, Jesus also became our example of humility and self-sacrifice.

On the Third Day

July 8, 2018 by Mark Stuenzi Message 4 of 9

The resurrection is the cornerstone of the Gospel message; it’s what sets Christianity apart from every other religion. As the Apostle Paul wrote, “If Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.” But how do we know it really happened? Is there enough evidence to compel belief? This message will explore the reasons we can confidently believe in a risen Savior.

And He Will Come Again

July 15, 2018 by Dan White Message 5 of 9

The baby in a manger is also the King who lives today and is coming again one day—not as an infant, but as the King of all. In our times of hope and uncertainty, it is good for us to remember that sin, death, injustice and pain will not have the last word. Jesus will have the last word, and it will be good

I Believe in the Holy Spirit

July 22, 2018 by Dan White Message 6 of 9

Just before his crucifixion, Jesus told his disciples that he was about to leave but that God would send “another Counselor to be with you forever—the Spirit of Truth.” The coming of the Spirit represented a significant change in God’s way of impacting the world: Jesus was “Emmanuel”—God with us—but the Holy Spirit is God in us. When Jesus walked the earth, God’s presence in this world was subject to the limitations of time and space. But today, the Holy Spirit indwells all true believers. God’s presence goes wherever his people go.

The Holy Universal Church

July 29, 2018 by Mark Stuenzi Message 7 of 9

In our culture, many people see the church as nothing more than a building or an institution. However, the church was originally intended to be a movement. It has become fashionable to say, “I’m spiritual but not religious.” Far too many Christians have embraced faith in Christ but walked away from His family. We can never be the people we are called to be if we try to live out our faith apart from the church.

The Forgiveness of Sins

August 5, 2018 by Kevin Stiles Message 8 of 9

There are two important aspects to the theology of forgiveness. The first aspect is that God forgives. The second aspect is that the people of God—the communion of the saints—is the platform on which the forgiveness of God is made visible to the world around us. We believe only through faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ and repentance from sin can one be reconciled to God and experience true life and joy.

The Life Everlasting

August 12, 2018 by Mark Stuenzi Message 9 of 9

There is a strong sense within our hearts that there must be more to this life than just this life. As the writer of Ecclesiastes says, God has “set eternity in the hearts of men.” We can try to ignore this longing or bury it under a flurry of activity, but in our quietest moments, that still, small voice can be heard. The reason why we often don’t feel at home in this world is that this world is not our ultimate home.
