Read Revelation 21: 23 and Genesis 1:1-3
I’ve been working from home since March. My workspace is near the east-facing window. All summer long, I’ve enjoyed the pleasant view of trees and field, and even when my workday is over and I’m sitting in my favorite chair, I can see the glow of sunset until the sun sinks behind the mountain. I’ve noticed, in the past week or so, this window loses the sun before my workday is over and I have to turn on the lamp, and the sky is dark before I’ve finished dinner. Am I the only one who feels saddened by an early darkness? One day, friends, there will be no more sunsets and lamps and darkness, for we will be in the presence of God. On earth, God spoke and there was light. In heaven, He is the light and there will be no darkness at all. The glory of God illuminates it all.
Revelation 21:23 NIV
The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.
Genesis 1:1-3 NIV
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
