Chuck Colson took risks. A Marine captain and lawyer, Colson reached the high point of his career as special counsel to President Richard Nixon. He became one of the most powerful men in the country until his role in the Watergate scandal was uncovered. Prosecution and imprisonment followed. After reading “Mere Christianity” by C. S. Lewis, Colson was convicted of his sin. Overwhelmed with God’s grace, he surrendered to Christ and committed to serving Him. Chuck’s experience at a federal prison camp awakened him to a new passion: helping other prisoners. Seeking God’s guidance, Colson stepped out in faith to bring Jesus and hope to prisoners, founding Prison Fellowship, the largest prison ministry in the country and the world. Colson could have returned from prison and indulged in a comfortable, self-centered lifestyle. Instead, he trusted God, devoted himself to love, and became a risk-taker, not for the world, but for kingdom purposes. What opportunities has God given you to share the truth of God’s love?
Acts 20:24 NIV
However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.
