Read 1 John 3:16-18 (https://bit.ly/3hm1m4S)
Scripture encourages us to imitate Christ and ask ourselves in every situation, “What would Jesus do?” A tall order! But God has not left us helpless. He gives us the gift of His Spirit, the Helper, when we place our faith in Christ. Our “I believe” opens the door to His Spirit’s empowerment to do what God asks. What does He ask? Share what we have, feed the hungry, help the oppressed, do acts of love. If there is never a twinge of desire to serve others, never a yearning to reach out to the poor, never a longing to help others in need, no compulsion to forgive … we should wonder. Perhaps the Holy Spirit is not present in your life. Check your faith. Have you confessed your sin, accepted Christ’s sacrifice, and invited Him into your life? If you haven’t, talk to Him today. Good works are not the root of our salvation, but they are the fruit.
