The first modern computer was invented by Alan Turing in the mid-twentieth century. Turing’s machine was different than those that came before because it was programmable. Those first computers were bigger than most living rooms, but now we carry even more remarkable machines in our pockets. But what good is a computer in your pocket if you only use it to dial phone numbers? Your smart phone can do so much more! We have the power of God living inside of us, but we’re ignoring that power if we assume we can change on our own. We couldn’t save ourselves; we needed God to do that. So why do we think we can change on our own? God has already given us the power. It’s time to rethink how we use it.
Bible Reading
2 Peter 1:3-4 NIV
His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
2 Peter 3:9 NIV
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
