Did you know only 32% of Protestant Christians read the Scriptures every day? Lifeway Research completed a study in 2019 which revealed that “those who regularly attend Protestant churches are inconsistent in their reading and thinking about Scripture.” The study mentioned that one of the identifying signs of a maturing believer is Bible engagement. Why is that true? Because the Bible gives us clear directives about what’s right and wrong. It also helps us see how much God loves us. However, these clear ideals have gone by the wayside in our modern world. We spend more time on social media or binge-watching our favorite shows on Netflix. Then we get confused about what to believe. No wonder we drift toward the world’s standards. Worldly ways won’t have lasting value. Seeking after God will.
Proverbs 2:1-6 NIV
My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding— indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God. For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
