John James Audubon was a naturalist and painter whose major focus was birds. You’ve probably seen some of his sketches in books, on calendars, and in museums. How does a person create such detailed and accurate paintings, especially of something that doesn’t stand still? He spent many hours sitting and watching. In this passage, Job is speaking to his friends. He has always followed God, and God Himself tells us Job was a righteous man, but in one day Job lost children, flocks, and servants, and the next day his health. Still he praised God. What will the birds and animals teach us, exactly? “These (animals) will tell you God has done this.” Acknowledge God in all you do, see, and experience; He is there, and His greatest desire is a relationship with you. Enjoy the color of the leaves as the seasons change; God is painting a picture for you. Like Audubon sketching, take a minute to pause and enjoy.
Job 12:7-10 NIV
“But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you. Which of all these does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this? In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.
