Many of us have witnessed the cord-tying ceremony at Christian weddings. This idea comes from Ecclesiastes 4:12: “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three is not quickly broken”. Each strand of the braid represents the groom, bride, and God. The bride and groom braid the cords as a representation of Christ being the center of their union and His unending strength. Colossians 3:14 reiterates the importance of Christ being at the center of marriage. It’s a reminder that the foundation of the martial relationship is the same for all other relationships; it’s the love of Jesus that strengthens our bond. We glorify God by modeling His love and commitment to one another and reveal His witness to the world. It is Christ who taught us to love. By keeping Him at the center of our marriage, His love will continue to bind us together as one throughout our union.

Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
Colossians 3:14-17 NIV
And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
In cooperation with orders from the PA Department of Health, and out of a heart of concern and care for our community, masks are now required for everyone ages 2+ while inside Parker Hill Church buildings.
