AppNotes

March 30, 2021

The words sounded familiar. “Whoever eats My body and drinks My blood will live forever.” They had watched many disciples abandon Jesus after He spoke those words. Now here they were again, the day before He was to die, as He handed them bread and wine. “This is My body given for you.” Perhaps they wondered if more followers would desert Him. Or maybe they wondered what He meant by those words as He shared the last meal He would ever eat with them together on the earth. Jesus knew His death was about to proclaim He is the bread of life for all mankind. Did the disciples understand? Not really, until after the resurrection when Jesus opened their understanding. Every time we take communion, Jesus wants to open our understanding to know His love for us in a deeper way.

Bible Reading

John 6:54 NIV
