“I’ve really done it this time, Lord. I’ve messed up my life and the lives of others! I’m a train wreck … maybe too far gone. I’m really sorry, God. It’s no one’s fault but mine. Could you forgive a muck-up like me—again ? I’m tired of falling and failing. Is there any hope for me?” This prayer has God’s attention. He hears every cry of desperation and grief over sin. However far you have fallen, whatever your sin, there is a way back to God. Accept responsibility for your sin and admit it to Him. Even if you find yourself swallowed up in remorse and shame, our merciful God is attuned to you and gives gifts you don’t deserve—forgiveness and second chances. Why? Because He loves you and granting mercy is an essential part of His character. Acknowledge His unmerited favor toward you and live grateful, forgiven, and loved.
Psalms 32:5 NIV
Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD.” And you forgave the guilt of my sin.
