Read Titus 3:4-7 (https://bit.ly/3fgagzf)
If God’s forgiveness of sin was based on good deeds, would those deeds need to be mega acts of kindness like pulling a teen out of a burning car? What good deeds would qualify as worthy and which would be too small to consider? What if I never did any good deeds until I was past 70? Would it be too late for me to accumulate a notable portfolio? Would I need a hefty pocketbook of donation money to be forgiven of a lifetime of pornography? Theologian Francis Schaeffer followed this thinking when he said, “How many finite buckets of good works would it take to fill the infinite gulf that exists between God and us because of our sin?” I don’t know about you, but I don’t have enough buckets. Instead, God invites us to come to Him in faith, accept the sacrifice of His Son Jesus, and receive … a forever bucketload of love and forgiveness.
