Dating is challenging; in fact, it can be downright hard. There are distractions here, minefields there, feelings are engaged and sometimes you don’t know where to turn. James reminds us of a universal truth: we’re all lacking in wisdom and there is one perfect source – God. Should I even consider dating this person? Ask God. Am I staying true to myself and my faith or am I starting to compromise? Ask God. Where should I take this relationship? Ask God. I don’t know how to handle this situation in a Christ-honoring way. Ask God. We need to remember that God loves us so much. He has laid out His blueprint for our lives in the Bible and has given us His Spirit to guide us. He desires what’s best for us. Because He has that heart, He will always lead us in the direction we need to go. All we need to do is ask.
