AppNotes

March 3, 2021

Corinthians 13:4-7 is the most used passage of scripture in Christian wedding ceremonies. These verses not only define the attributes of love, but also describe what love is not. This concept seems easy on our wedding day. We are still filled excitement and wonderful expectations of what married life will hold. Then reality sets in. Those little habits you thought were cute are now driving you crazy. The bills are piling up. You don’t spend enough quality time together. Or, you’re stuck spending too much time together because of the pandemic. Whatever the struggle, it is real. At these moments, we need to come back to this passage and recognize love as more than feeling; love is action. Loving our spouse is a choice we make every day. Pray daily to God to help you choose love; it makes a world of difference in the real world of marriage.

Bible Reading

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NIV
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
