When a farmer grows crops, his desire is to harvest fruit. However, his relationship is with the plant. It is the plant that the farmer sows, waters, and cares for. He knows that without the plant, there will be no fruit. We as Christians also desire fruit – the fruit of the Holy Spirit. But before we can experience spiritual fruition, we have be able to relate to God the Spirit and nurture our relationship with Him. We need to learn to love, serve, adore, and respect Him just as we do with God the Father and God the Son. Without a life full of the Holy Spirit, we end up limiting God’s work in our lives. The emphasis on the Holy Spirit comes from Christ Himself. If the Spirit of God was so important to the life of Jesus, how much more so for the lives of believers!
John 14:16-17 NIV
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.
