Our deepest longing is to be loved. We want to find a love that accepts us as we are and sees us better than we are. We spend so much time and energy trying to find this kind of love and are often disappointed when others fall short of our expectations. Are we looking in the wrong places? John 15:10-12 answers that question and reinforces that only the God who created the universe can show us perfect, unconditional, and infinite love. No other person can satisfy what our soul craves and our heart needs. Jesus tells all who follow Him to remain in His love so that His joy may be in us and our joy may be complete. Yet, we continue to seek joy through worldly possessions and relationships. Let us always remember that God’s love is our home. It is the pillow that provides true rest and the blanket that wraps us in secure hope.
John 15:9-12 NIV
“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.
