This summer I took my kiddos on a camping trip with some family. Let me just tell you, it was much easier when I was younger. Once we had the tent set up, air mattresses filled, pillows and blankets neatly situated, I felt at home. That only lasted a few minutes until my son went running into the tent over my bed and his sister’s with his dirt and leaf-filled sneakers! Apostle Paul says that our bodies are like “tents”, our temporary homes. We are always seeking more because we are innately aware that there is more. Though they are only temporary, God has entrusted us with them, and we need to take care of our “tents” while we are here on earth. I did brush off our beds, continued to tidy up as if we were home, taking pride in where we would stay for two days. God asks us to do the same. To glorify Him in our temporary tents.
2 Corinthians 5:7-9 NIV
For we live by faith, not by sight. We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.
